Budding jazz musicians get the chance to learn from leading jazz professionals

The Jazz Glasgow Summer School returns to City Halls again this year following the success of last year’s sold-out event. The renowned Scottish jazz saxophonist Paul Towndrow will direct the course, which coincides with the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, running from Friday 27th June until Tuesday 1st July.
 
Now in its third year, the Jazz Glasgow Summer School gives budding jazz musicians the opportunity to learn from some of Scotland’s most experienced professional jazz musicians and educators; Paul Towndrow (Course Director), Laura MacDonald (saxophone/woodwind), Alyn Cosker (drums/rhythm section), Mike Janisch (bass/rhythm section), Tom MacNiven (trumpet/brass) and Paul Harrison (piano). This team of expert tutors will lead classes in ensemble playing, ear training and theory, utilising the state of the art education facilities in Glasgow’s City Halls.
 
As well as enjoying expert tutoring, participants will be able to attend Jazz Festival performances at the Old Fruitmarket during the Summer School weekend free of charge (subject to availability).

New programme orders for
Scarlet Television

Ltd ('Scarlet'), the Manchester-based Independent television production company controlled by AIM-listed Motive Television PLC, has won a primetime programme order for ITV1, Britain's Biggest Babies.  The programme is one of four Scarlet programmes to be broadcast on ITV and SKY in the same week in June 2008.

Britain's Biggest Babies features the biggest babies ever born (in the UK- and in the world). The programme, which reveals exclusive new research into the link between maternal obesity and the birth-weight of babies, airs on ITV1 at 9pm, on the 12 June 2008.

SKY is broadcasting 50 Greatest TV Endings with Cilla Black and 50 Ways to Leave Your TV Lover, presented by Fern Britton, at 9pm on 8 June 2008 and 15 June 2008 respectively.  Scarlet's factual series on Britain's most notorious serial killers- The Making of a Monster- takes the 9pm slot on the Crime and Investigation Network, on 12 June 2008.

Scarlet's Managing Director Paula Trafford is Executive Producer on all of the four programmes.

FULL LINE-UP ANNOUNCED FOR THE MAGIC LOUNGEABOUT

The UK’s first 24 hour musical picnic confirms its full line up today, with performances from Gary Numan, Ladytron, Morcheeba, Nouvelle Vague, The Egg, Lykke Li and Pacific taking place in the gardens of Newburgh Priory in North Yorkshire on 30th August.
 
The Magic Loungeabout is being hailed as the UK’s hottest new electronica festival and has attracted performances from a host of cutting edge international performers in the first event of its kind to be held in Britain.
 
Swedish singer Lykke Li will kick off the festival, followed by mellow acoustic covers of new wave punk classics from Nouvelle Vague. Electropop band Pacific, will continue the chilled vibe during the day, performing tracks from their new album, with sounds from electronic funk band, The Egg and melodic festival favourites Morcheeba taking guests through to the Cocktail Hour at sun down.
 
Eclectic disco-pop from Ladytron will up the tempo, before the headline performance from electronica pioneer, Gary Numan.  An after show party under the stars will be held in the ruined West Wing of the Priory, until 3am with DJs to be announced soon.
 
The Magic Loungeabout aims to offer an intimate and contemporary alternative to the summer festival scene. Taking place in the stunning surroundings of Newburgh Priory in the North Yorkshire national park,  the event offers a stylish and intimate alternative for people who want to get away from the queues and overcrowding which are common at summer festivals.

The team behind The Magic Loungeabout has worked on various renowned music events across the country including the multi award winning Secret Garden Party, and created their version of the ‘ideal stress–free festival’ using feedback from event-goers across the UK.
 
Overnight camping in the gardens of Newburgh Priory will be available at no extra cost with a boutique camping package available in the Yurt Village, all decorated with wool blankets, including a choice of breakfast and newspaper delivery service for an added touch of luxury.

4.1 million brits Vote Indiana Jones top comeback film

Wait over for fans as ODEON announces midnight Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull screenings
As the fourth instalment ofIndiana Jones prepares for a comeback on the big screen, ODEON – the UK’s largest cinema chain – announces special midnight screenings on 22nd May to meet the demands of fans that can’t wait another minute to see their adventuring archaeologist in action.

The news follows a national poll identifying around 4.1million Brits who namedIndiana Jones the best film series of all time, makingIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull one of the must see films of the year. 

The research, commissioned to celebrate the long-awaited return ofIndiana Jones, also identified the UK’s most craved cinematic comebacks.The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump and cult-classicTop Gun all made the top three; with childhood favourite,The Goonies, gaining fourth place.

Other film favourites the nation placed on the comeback wish list wereWithnail & I,The Breakfast Club and the Will Smith favourite,Independence Day.
